Sebastian Yatra Crowned the Latin Artist Dominating 2020 (So Far) in Fan Poll

After a two-week poll asking “Which Latin artist is dominating 2020 (so far)?,” Billboard readers have picked its winner, crowning Sebastian Yatra.

The Colombian pop artist took the lead with more than 76 percent of the votes. He’s followed by Latina superstars Thalia and Shakira.

The year began on a high for Yatra, who dropped “TBT” in late February in collaboration with Manuel Turizo and Rauw Alejandro. The head-bopping, hip-shaking jam hit No. 1 on the Latin Rhythm Airplay chart dated June 27. “TBT” dethroned the Black Eyed Peas after their one-week reign with “Mamacita,” with Ozuna and J.Rey Soul, on the Latin Rhythm Airplay chart.

Hunkered down in Colombia during the global coronavirus pandemic, Yatra has connected with his fans through virtual serenades, silly TikTok clips, and even reading time for his younger followers. Yatra also teamed up with Colombian group Morat for “Bajo La Mesa.”

At the top of the year, Billboard asked readers which Latin artist will dominate 2020. With more than 40 percent of the votes, fans picked CNCO. Now that we’re more than halfway through the year, Yatra has taken the title, beating out more than 30 of his colleagues. Check out the full results below.
